As a presenting sponsor at the Captain Planet Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gala Event, Pratt Industries is proud to support the foundation’s project-based environmental learning strategies. As one of the Southeast’s largest eco-benefits, the event raises funds for the Foundation’s mission to help youth develop into environmental stewards and active global citizens: individuals who think critically and collaborate nationally and internationally, in projects that benefit their health, schools and communities.
Honorees of the evening included real life environmental heroes like Superhero of the Earth Award recipient Ian Somerhalder, Exemplar Award recipients Prince Charles, E.O. Wilson, and Young Superhero of the Earth recipients Xiuhtezcatl Martinez (16) and Hannah Testa (14). Dr. Tony Juniper also attended, accepting the Exemplar Award on behalf of HRH Prince Charles. The green carpet was also rolled out for celebrities like Ceelo Green, Zac Brown, Sanjay Gupta, Nikki Reed, Winona Ryder and Jane Fonda. Entrepreneur Jesse Itzler served as Master of Ceremonies.
Gala Co-Chairs included Meg & Jeff Arnold, Rebecca & Sanjay Gupta, and Cara Isdell Lee & Zac Lee. Laura Seydel, Foundation chair, and her father Ted Turner, mogul and environmentalist, were also both in attendance.
As part of a long standing partnership, The Captain Planet Foundation and Pratt Industries provide a platform for any U.S. elementary school with an existing garden to download free Project Learning Garden standards-based lessons AND order both the classroom lesson supply kits and mobile cooking carts at cost. Pratt Industries is donating the management of the e-commerce site as well as ordering, housing assembling, and shipping the lesson kits to partnering schools.
