Paper Based Packaging Growth | Pratt Industries

According to RISI VP Global Packaging Ken Waghorne in his speech to Paper 2017, sponsored by the American Forest & Paper Assn., the demand for paper based packaging is growing due to the rise of ecommerce and the environmental concerns around plastic packaging. Ecommerce specifically contributes to the increased demand for container board like Pratt’s 100% recycled corrugated boxes.

“Paper packaging demand should continue to grow over the 2017-2018 period, Waghorne said. Containerboard and kraft paper demand are expected to grow more than 16% cumulatively over the 2011 to 2018 period, while boxboard demand grows around 4%, according to RISI estimates.”

In addition, American Forest Paper Association launched the Responsible Package initiative this month to raise awareness that paper and paper-based packaging is renewable, recyclable, and reusable and to highlight that packaging like paperboard, corrugated cardboard, and paper bag products are reliable, economical, and a responsible choice!
